I have been feeling so amazing this week. I got to spend last weekend with my aunt Sonja and uncle Rainer in Nuremberg and Rothenburg ob der Tauber, which is my new favorite place! See my Facebook for photos, it is a gorgeous medieval town sorounded by a giant stone wall and round guard towers. We also went to a festival in a village called Raindorf, and we ate the most amazing fresh smoked fish. I enjoyed spending time with them, learning a bunch of German, and seeing new places. And the comforts of a home are so much nicer than of my dorm! :)

So coming home from a good weekend was refreshing. I needed to see some family after being away from mine for so long. Speaking of family, my parents are both coming to see me in December! My dad and Kristy will be here in the beginning of the month, and then my mom and brother will come over Christmas. I cannot wait to spend time with them and show them Schmalkalden. I mean seriously, is there a more beautiful place to be during the Christmas holidays than Germany?! The Christmas Markets alone are so amazing, and then add snow and gorgeous scenery. I'm most excited to see Berlin with dad and Kristy, and then to see the Neuschwanstein Castle with mom and Tim. It's going to be such an amazing month!
So anyway, all of my classes are kicking into gear and going really well. Of all my wonderful teachers, my marketing professor really stands out. This woman dedicates her life to her students. I had a really good talk with her the other day and she is officially my role model. She puts her heart and soul into her job because she loves and cares so deeply for her students and wants to see them succeed above all else, even her own health and free time. She really gets to know her students and is extremely intuitive; if you are stressed she wants to find out why, if you are frustrated with your choices she asks you lots of questions to find out the root cause. It's so amazing.
She works overtime everyday (for which she does not get paid extra) and teaches extra classes so that students get what they need. AND she lives an hour and a half away. It reminds me of how much my mom does for her students in the same ways. Teachers often do not get all the credit they deserve for the time and effort the devote to their students!
So now I'm going into a laid-back weekend! Joe will be here in TWO weeks and I can't wait to see him. We'll do lots of fun things, including a visit to see my aunt and uncle and then a festival in Erfurt which conveniently falls on my birthday! I'm really excited for him to meet all my friends... it's like bringing him home to meet the family. They are amazing and will love him. I can't wait :)
Speaking of my crazy friends, they convinced me to go to a salsa dancing class with them. IT WAS SO FUN! Who knew that of all places, I would learn to salsa in Germany?! The teacher is so awesome and very fun. The class is taught in German, so my friend would translate what we didn't understand and I would pass it down the line of us. It was really hilarious. I danced with some good dancers, even the teacher, and some really bad ones!! It was such a fun experience and I can't wait to see what else we learn this semester. Joe even said he will come to the class the week that he is here... so we'll put his dancing skills to the test.
I hope you all have a wonderful weekend!
Thanks for reading,
Bethany
