In the Fast Lane

Hi everyone!

As you can see from all my pictures, this weekend was a blast. Joe turned 22 (so yes, I did sing the Taylor Swift song to him) last Tuesday so he decided to celebrate over the weekend after with a "Zombiefied" party.

Saturday morning I visited Portsmouth with Joe, Helen, and Mark to pick up supplies for zombie make-up. It was clear skies out (which is a rarity for England here lately) so it was the perfect day to look around a bit! We didn't stay for more than a couple hours, so I didn't see much of the city besides the shopping areas. When we drove in we stopped at Portsdown Hill and got a picture with the city behind us. In the background is the Isle of Wight and Helen told me that it is one of the most expensive waters to cross in the world by ferry.

We grilled hamburgers and hot dogs at the house when his friends got there and that was great fun. I loved all of his friends because they were so sweet and made me feel like they'd known me forever. I became fast friends with one of Joe's friend's girlfriend so we stuck together and had a lot of fun doing zombie make-up on all of the boys. The guys all got really into the zombie thing and ripped up their clothes and put fake blood all over their faces and clothes. We went all out and it made for the best memories (and pictures).

He actually asked me if I do costume make up for a job... I was flattered haha!

My favorite picture!! This is us "eating" Ollie! Still makes me laugh.

After everyone was ready, a van came and picked us all up and we headed out to Portsmouth to go clubbing, which is a first for me because obviously the club scene in Florence is non-existent... haha. So naturally I was kind of nervous about it all but once we got there everyone was having such a great time and I never felt left out of the group or awkward. It was probably one of the funnest things I've ever done in my life. It was completely different than anything I've ever seen, EVERYONE danced regardless of whether or not they could dance and guys were always up dancing regardless of whether or not they had someone to dance with. We all danced together and stuck together the whole time. Like I said, it was so fun and never did I ever feel weird or left out.

Liquid Club

The whole crew! We got a lot of strange looks, which made it all the more fun!

So we took it easy on Sunday and then were back out yesterday to go to Thorpe Park! It's a huge theme park a bit outside of London. There were four of us, including friends Ross and Kasper, who is from Australia! We got up bright and early to catch a train to Woking (which I learned, after being laughed at, is pronounced like Woah-king, not like the asian food) and then rode a bus up to the park. Joe and I snuck our Go Pros onto the rides and Joe, who is much braver than me, held his camera out in his hand on the roller coasters to film us on it. The videos turned out hilarious, you can find them 'shared' on my page. One coaster called Stealth went from 0-80 mph in less than TWO seconds... it was insane! All of the coasters were super fun and we always laughed so hard at our faces in the pictures. It was a great day, and the weather was alright for the most part until after noon when the rain poured down hard on us, so we were drenched and uncomfortable for a little while. England weather is so unpredictable... it drives me crazy!! We still managed to have an amazing time.

Now Joe's off from work this week so I'm excited to spend time together! He's got a soccer game this thursday that I'm looking forward to, but other than that it should be just a relaxed week. I'm sending out postcards tomorrow, sorry that it's taking so long... I've just been so busy! Plus I didn't know where the Post was until today... so anyway look out for those and if you want to get on the list then message me your address and I'll make it happen!

Thanks for reading!
Bethany
